Qs & As with Ben Jones



What is your name?
Ben Jones

Where do you live?
East London but originally from Manchester

Where/ What did you study, if you studied?
I studied at JMU at the Stockport collage campus. I did a degree in design and visual arts specialising in illustration

What do you do day to day?
Print, collage, paint, draw, watch films, play playstation, sleep, drink, eat ect

How would you describe your work?
I was once told I am like a old head on a young persons body. I like to make work as they did back in the day.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
Every thing and anything but mostly from mythology and fairy tales. I am also very inspired by mid-century modern graphic design particularly the work of Polish poster artist Jan Lenica.

What are your tools/ what medium do you work in?
I use a mixture of lino prints screen-printing and collage.

What do you think about the competition we ran and why did you submit?
I think it is a fantastic opportunity for artists to see work screen-printed in a collection with others.

What are you working on at the moment?
I have been working on images based around Norse mythology.
